[UBD/IAS/001] Political Geography / International Relations
Associate Professor | Senior Assistant Professor | Assistant Professor

The Institute of Asian Studies (IAS) at the Universiti Brunei Darussalam is in a phase of active expansion. This has created an opening for a Political Geography/International Relation position. The successful candidate will have a PhD in Political Geography and a demonstrable record of excellence in research internationally and a proven capacity to initiate, lead and collaborate on research projects. Candidates with knowledge and interest in South China Sea and/or Asian regional integration are particularly welcome. The successful candidate will contribute to both the Institute and Faculty Arts and Social Sciences in terms of research, supervision and some limited teaching responsibilities at both undergraduate and graduate level. Candidates will have a PhD related to the field, as Political Sciences, International Relations, Geo-Politics. Candidates will have to demonstrable record of excellence in research internationally and a proven capacity to initiate, lead and collaborate on research projects. The Institute has established ties with a number of universities and other key bodies globally alongside funding for research and graduate students. The aim is to establish IAS as a major knowledge hub in a growing network of Asian-based research establishments. [UBD/IASFASS/002] Environmental Studies

The Institute of Asian Studies (IAS) at the Universiti Brunei Darussalam is in a phase of active expansion. This has created an opening for an Environmental Studies Scholar with a research and teaching focus on mainland and/or archipelagic Southeast Asia. The area of specialization is open but broadly trained interdisciplinary candidates within the environmental humanities/social sciences are particularly welcome. This may include a focus on human-cultural-environment interactions; societal impact on eco-systems and/or changing patterns of climate and land use. An ability to situate research especially on Borneo in the wider context of sustainable development is also welcome. The successful candidate will contribute to both the Institute and Faculty Arts and Social Sciences in terms of research, supervision and some limited teaching responsibilities at both undergraduate and graduate level. Candidates must have a PhD in a relevant discipline from a reputable university, a demonstrable track-record of excellence in research and a proven capacity to initiate, lead and collaborate on interdisciplinary research. The Institute has established ties with a number of universities and other key bodies globally alongside funding provision for research projects and graduate student scholarships. The aim is to establish IAS as a major knowledge hub in a growing network of Asian-based research establishments. Candidates with knowledge and interest in Southeast Asia and/or Asia are particularly welcome. The ability to situate research in a regional perspective is also desirable. The successful candidate will contribute to both the Institute and Faculty Arts and Social Sciences in research, supervision and some teaching responsibilities at both undergraduate and graduate level. Candidates must possess a PhD in Sociology and a demonstrable record of excellence in research internationally and a proven capacity to initiate, lead and collaborate on research projects.
