Séminaire EFEO New Discoveries in Peninsular Siam: the archaeology of Tambralinga

lundi 25 novembre 2013 (11h-12h30), Wannasarn Noonsuk (Ph.D., Head of the Research Unit for Archaeology, and Lecturer in the Ph.D. Program in Asian Studies, Walailak University, Southern Thailand) interviendra sur le thème : « New Discoveries in Peninsular Siam: the archaeology of Tambralinga », École française d’Extrême-Orient,  22 avenue du Président Wilson, 75116 Paris (grand salon du 1er étage).

“ Tambralinga has been known to historians for more than half a century as an early kingdom in what is today Nakhon Si Thammarat Province in Peninsular Siam. However, Tambralinga has been little studied archaeologically. This lecture will present new data from fieldwork, including geographical studies, site surveys, and excavations.  The archaeological record can now be used to illustrate a variety of sites, starting in proto-historic times, all the way to the Theravada Buddhist period.”
